From a vague ticket to a traceable, extensible filter system
The ticket asked for a status column. Research showed researchers needed to query samples to decide which ones to run next, so I reframed the problem and shipped a filter system built to grow.
A privacy-preserving abstraction layer for millions of genomic records
Custodians publish safe, reusable questions once. Researchers get meaningful answers without wading through raw data or seeing sensitive patient information.
Redesigning Workbench without losing the power users
Instead of simplifying, I layered the interface: a guided form, CSV batch templates, and JSON kept for experts.
From one-off data portals to a scalable research network
DNAstack built a custom portal for every dataset. I designed the two-sided platform that replaced it: Publisher for data custodians and Explorer for research teams.

How I work with AI
AI speeds up the parts of design that don't need judgment, so more of my time goes to the parts that do.
Faster synthesis, same conversations
I still run every interview myself. AI helps me tag transcripts, cluster themes and pull supporting quotes, then I check the patterns against what I heard before anything reaches a roadmap.
More directions, earlier
I use Figma Make and Claude to explore more directions early and build working prototypes with realistic data. Stakeholders get something they can click and react to.
Edge cases and handoff
I ask AI to stress-test flows for missing states, check copy and accessibility, and draft component documentation. Engineering gets a more complete spec, and fewer gaps turn up mid-sprint.
Designing AI features people trust
When AI goes into the product, I decide what it suggests and what the user decides, how it explains itself, and how people correct it. In sensitive domains, the human makes the final call.
